Kids Clay

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

This is a fun rainy day project to make with your kids.

1 cup flour

1/2 cup salt

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 cup water

food coloring

Combine the flour, salt & cream of tartar in medium size pot. Add the oil and water; stir until fairly smooth. Add the food coloring to achieve the desired color – it will darken a little when it is cooked. Cook over medium heat & stir constantly. Cook until very thick, (it doesn’t take long). Using a wooden spoon to stir the mixture while it is cooking will be easier on the hands. Remove from heat and scrape the “clay” out of the pot. Knead until smooth.

Let it cool a little and then wrap in plastic wrap or store in a sealed plastic bag.

Easy Chocolate Mousse

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

This is a very quick & easy dessert, and another one of my favorites. This is an easy recipe for kids to make.

1 box (4 serving size) Jell-O Instant pudding, Chocolate flavor
1 1/2 cups milk
1 (8 ounce) container Cool Whip, thawed

In a large bowl whisk together the pudding mix with the milk until the pudding starts to thicken, about 4-5 minutes. Fold in the Cool Whip. Pour into dessert cups or a large bowl & chill. Top with whipped cream if desired.
